Many customers are taking advantage of Azures commitment to security and compliance and have moved to Azure to protect their Windows Server 2008 SP2 workloads with free Extended Security Updates.įor customers who need additional time to upgrade and modernize their devices running Windows Server 2008 SP2 on Azure, we offer one additional year of Extended Security Updates on Azure only, beginning Februand ending on January 9, 2024. Windows Server 2008 SP2 Extended Security Updates third and final year of ESU ended on January 10, 2023. Operating systems in extended support have only cumulative monthly security updates. Additional roll-ups were included in the Windows 7 SP1 Convenience Rollup that adds additional functionality to the operating system.As of July 2020, optional non-security releases for this operating system are no longer offered. The disk cleanup update cleans outdated software from the Windows directory, freeing up space with each version of the Windows 7 SP1 Convenience Rollup. The Platform update, for example, includes enhancements to various graphics systems to allow for better functionality. The Rollup includes platform and disk cleanup updates and all improvements up until the present. The rollup contains all updates to the Windows 7 Service Pack 1, effectively making it a service pack 2. Alternativesįollowing the release of several platform updates to the Windows 7 SP1, a convenience rollup was released for new users that had not updated to SP1. Windows 7 Service Pack 1 also fixes bugs related to HDMI audio and printing XPS documents. SP1 adds support for Advanced Vector Extensions and improves IKEv2 by adding additional identification fields such as ‘E-mail ID.' The system update also adds support for Advanced Format 512e and additional Identity Federation Services. Microsoft’s Windows 7 service pack 1, also called SP1, resolves customer and partner feedback.
